Harper, Ghost of Thornton Hall
To me this was the saddest line in the game. It just struck me in a really odd way… “Then one day I was older than my older sister.” A simple sentence that says so much.

Sorry! I can’t possibly know who all has and hasn’t played the game yet. You could install Tumblr Savior and blacklist the game title so you don’t get spoiled.
Dear Nancy,
I guess I should start by telling you who I am. My name is Emily Crandall, but you probably don’t remember me. I recently celebrated my 101st birthday. The doctors are amazed that I’m still so active and healthy at this impossible age. I could only imagine how they’d react if they met you.
This coming Friday I’m moving. I’ll be living with a friend in Illinois, not far from Chicago. I’m super excited to be getting out of my mom’s house and doing my own thing. I’m going by way of a 1,300 mile train trip on the California Zephyr. My first destination is St. Louis, Missouri (home of The Final Scene!) where I’ll spend a couple weeks with a good friend, exploring the city, taking a road trip to Chicago, and who knows what else. I plan on inducting her into the Clue Crew while I’m at it. It’ll be a heck of an adventure!
This also means I won’t be around very often during the month of June. I really want to participate in Fanfiction Month, but I doubt I’ll have time. I’ll definitely still be reading everything you guys write, though. Later on, when I’m all settled into my new place, I plan to start writing and posting fanfic, and I’ll probably use some of the prompts for inspiration.
I’m setting up a queue so the blog will remain active, but I may be slow to answer asks. For updates on my adventures, you can follow my personal blog if you’d like. :) Stay beautiful, rock on, fight the power, and don’t take any wooden nickels!
I had the most epic dream. I won the lottery and used the money to buy a big ranch house in Arizona. It had a courtyard out back and everything. I named it (you guessed it) Shadow Ranch, and was decorating and planned to turn it into the Clue Crew clubhouse. I had enough money left over to fly everyone out there. I was so upset to wake up!

The music that plays when Charlotte appears is part of what makes her so terrifying.

The frickin’ writing on the fireplace. My mom’s convinced I made that up because she didn’t see it.
That startled me so badly my heart stopped for half a second! There’s a lot of stuff like that in GTH. I was sure I’d imagined the moving coffin and the shadow on the staircase, until it happened again on my second playthrough.

The swan table in MHM. That thing still scares me.
Me too! It’s so creepy because it’s just a table. There’s no logical reason why it should move. That game still gives me the heebie jeebies.

i heard some people speculating that it was a coatimundi and that was the sonny joon reference in the game
It was really squat and round though, and appeared to have a shell, and no tail. A coatimundi is all cute and fluffy.

It looks kind of like a pink fairy armadillo to me, but they’re found only in Argentina, so I don’t have a clue!

The Clue Crew Fan Fiction Month:
Here’s how it works.
- Four Fanfictions per week.
You can write more if you wish to, but no pressure to do so.- They can be as long or as short as you’d like. There is no pressure to write ten pages or anything like that.
- There is a list of themes you can choose from. You can only choose from this list.
- You can write whatever ship you like (Of course, you don’t have to write any ships if you don’t want to).
- You can post whenever suits you. There are no set dates.
- You can write based off the games or the books.
- The fan fictions should have Nancy Drew characters in them.
- Message me if you have any questions.
- The tag for this is: ND Fanfiction.
- This starts on the first of June.
The themes can be found under the cut:
It’s run by the fantastic, hard-working lady behind everythingnancydrew and detectiveworkisalwaysinstyle. Go send in some confessions!
I JUST NEED TO MAKE THIS A POST BECAUSE I THINK IT IS EXTREMELY. IMPORTANT. AND MAKES ME FEEL SO VERY GOOD AND I AM ACTUALLY VERY RELIEVED AND I FEEL LIKE I CAN TRUST HER WITH ND 29 JUST BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY HANDLED THIS TOPIC DON’T LOOK AT ME
FROM THIS POST
—What was the Thornton family business?
This was kept intentionally vague, but the tools you’ll find can point you in the direction of the answer. To answer this question, I have to engage with a question many of our fans have been asking – Why was there no mention of slavery in the game?
The story of slavery must be told correctly. One day we may approach the topic, but it’s not currently in the works. If we ever do – that will be the entire game. It won’t be a sub-plot, and it will be exhaustively researched and based almost entirely in fact. This game was only left room for slavery to be inserted as flavor or background information – and none of us felt comfortable using slavery as entertainment.
So, yes the information about the business is vague – but that is because we don’t want to half grapple with a tough question. With issues like slavery, even a positive seeming message can actually do more damage than good. A common conclusion when talking about things like slavery is “Those were bad people a long time ago.” That is entirely true – but the secondary message that sends is “So we don’t need to worry about that stuff now – we’re better, more civilized people now.” That’s not a great message to send, it encourages complacency.
When you approach a serious subject, you have a responsibility to add to the conversation. Our games most likely, are not up to that particular task.
SORRY I DOUBTED YOU HER
The apparitions are my favorite part too! I was constantly jumping out of my skin at all the shadows in windows and doorways, and things suddenly moving that shouldn’t. It reminds me a lot of MHM. It’s so cool/freaky when Sweet Charlotte starts playing in Charlotte’s room!
official game soundtracks ♬ Ghost of Thornton Hall - Sweet Charlotte
Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home
Your house is on fire and your children are gone
All except one, sweet Charlotte Ann
And she hid under the frying pan.
Yay! I’m glad you love it! Ugh, the lever puzzle is damn near impossible, especially on master detective. What’s your favorite thing about the game so far?
Conclusion: GTH is my favorite game to come out in years.
The graphics are so realistic it feels like you’re actually there. The music is utterly flawless for setting tone and scaring you senseless. With vastly improved writing and plenty of exploration and discovery to be had, HER seems to have done everything right this time. But that’s just the beginning of the good things about it.
I’m not the only one with complaints about the recent games not being enough like the early classics. It’s been a long time since a game had that special brand of magic. Could just be me, but whatever it is, GTH seems to have it. Play and see for yourself!
Perhaps what makes me happiest is the fact that I got all my wishes. Looking back at my post about hopes and expectations, I’m amazed by how everything came true. Dark abandoned house? Check. Dust, cobwebs and antiques? Tons. Seeing and hearing unexpected things? Every five minutes. Spooky graveyard, secret passageways, Civil War references? Check, check, and check. That feeling of something being very wrong, of evil watching from every shadow, Thornton Hall has in spades. There’s even a peephole and a blinking painting! And yes, in my opinion, it is the scariest game yet.
I worried that maybe my hopes were too high. Instead, I got everything I wanted and then some. I can tell that GTH is going to be one of those games I play a dozen times and still enjoy. Of course, these are just my personal feelings, and you’re free to disagree or even hate it. But I have the feeling it’s going to become a classic.
***Spoilers*** under the cut. Do not continue if you haven’t finished the game! Mystico has warned you.
Night has arrived, which means it’s almost time for another thrilling session of Laura Fumbles Around Thornton Hall! So I thought I’d recap my thoughts on the game so far. No spoilers, don’t worry!
And now, beloved friends, I go forth to continue my campaign of fun. More updates as this story develops! I only wish y’all were here.
I left off just after spying through the crack in the secret door. Is it just me, or is this a really dark game? I’m loving it so, so, so much.

I can imagine us playing GTH in the Mystery Mansion: “Should I go here guys?” “Ah—IT’S CHARLOTTE!” “OMG-Turn around! Turn around!” “Im done! You play it now!” “Guys, its gone now—but hey! A clue!”
Hahaha, yes! And the whole floor would be covered in heaps of pillows and blankets. We’d all be backseat-driving and taking turns playing and freaking out simultaneously. Especially because we’d be playing in ze dark.
